![]() This spring, Gaithersburg High School LFI students will be participating in the EarthEcho Water Challenge as part of cross-curricular project-based learning. Students will learn about water ecosystems in science class, learn about water quality measurements in math class, and write about their experiences in reading class. Students will also physically complete water quality measurements in various locations around the community and submit their data to an online database. (April/May 2019)
Follow this page for updates as we trek all over Montgomery County (and DC!) to get water samples! |
"The EarthEcho Water Challenge is an international education and outreach program that builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging citizens in conducting basic monitoring of their local water bodies and equips them with the tools to take action to protect their water resources.
Program participants will share their water quality data through the EarthEcho Water Challenge global database, contributing to a network of water quality data collected by 1.5 million citizens from more than 140 countries. They will ultimately utilize this data to help inform actions to protect local water resources." Visit their website for more information: http://www.worldwatermonitoringday.org |
